Startup Investing/Advising
Working with and around startups brings me an incredible amount of energy. I love the strategy, grind, and creativity it takes to become a useful product over the long term. Throughout this journey I've had the opportunity to contribute to seed and pre-seed rounds as an angel investor. Additionally, I've had the pleasure of advising a few early stage companies over the years. I'll add names here when it's time 😉.
Creating software
Creating projects end to end is one of my favorite pasttimes (as if doing this fulltime wasn't enough 😅). I love keeping my skills sharp and putting projects into the world, from mobile apps to ML evals. See my Github below for some projects I've worked on over the years.
Mentorship
Throughout my career I've had the pleasure of mentoring over 100s of people from various backgrounds and disciplines. I tend to mentor software engineers (or aspriring software engineers), University students, and newly-minted managers. This is one of the major sources of joy for me in my career and I am always looking for ways to scale what I've learned/experienced.
STEMM Opportunity Alliance
The STEMM Opportunitiy Alliance is a non-profit that focuses on increasing access and attainment for diverse groups in STEMM. This is a group I support through the Onyx Group, where I focus on unifying policy and technology for more equitable outcomes. I believe this organization does great work and is laying a strong foundation for the work to come over many years ahead.
Coaching
Building on my penchant for mentorship, I've also grown into coaching over the years. This is a more formal relationship where I work with someone on a plan and support them in their execution over a period of time. I plan to dedicate more time to this practice so please reach out if there's interest.
Yoga & Meditation
Aside from reading, yoga and meditation are two of my most cherished practices. Every week you can find me at a studio deepening my practice and connecting with others that have a similar interest.
Supporting Pitt CS
I've stayed heavily involved with my alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh, throughout the years. I've served on the University Alumni Board for 3 years now and also founded the Minority Association in Computing to provide space for underrepresented students to build community and grow together. Both of these initiatives have been a joy and I'm looking forward to continuing to grow my impact at the school.
